Drop-in Programs

Trash to Treasure Swap Meet
Friday to Sunday, June 9–11
from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day
Friday, bring in your usable, unwanted items. Saturday and Sunday, browse for something you may need. Let’s keep it out of the landfill!
Free. Leftover items will be donated to local charities.

Family Planetarium
Sundays, June 11, July 23, and August 20
from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. each day
Show starts at 1:10 p.m., no late entry.
$3/person or $10/family

Astronomy Night: Saturn Viewing Party
Saturday, June 17 to Sunday, June 18
from 11:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Stay up late to see both Saturn and Jupiter shining bright in the southern sky. Telescopes and binoculars will be available for everyone.
Admission paid by cash only. Weather permitting.
$3/person or $10/family

Herbal Plant Walk
Saturdays, June 24 and July 22
from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Join a herbalist for this introduction to herbs, their uses and what you can find right in your backyard.

Bike Tour
Tuesday, July 4, and Wednesday, August 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. each day
Explore Red Deer’s Waskasoo Park bike trails with an experienced and entertaining guide.
Family friendly. Meet at Kerry Wood Nature Centre.
$3/person or $10/family

Story Time in Imagination Grove
every Thursday in July and August
from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.


Pre-registered Programs
Registration is required minimum two days prior to the program.
Lack of registration may result in a program being cancelled.


Terry Grant, The Real Mantracker
Saturday, June 17
two session: 9 a.m. to noon (adults) and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. (youth)
The art of tracking is a learned skill that has kept the human race alive since the beginning of time.
Now you too can resurrect your primal abilities with renowned tracker Terry Grant during this fun, hands-on experience.
Very limited space. Admission $100/adult, $75/youth.

Soapmaking Workshop
Sundays, June 18 and August 6
from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. each day
Learn to make soap from scratch.
Pre-registration required. Admission $18+GST/member, $20+GST/non-member. All materials provided. 

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced Crochet
June 25, July 29, and August 13
from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. each day
Create a project to take home at each session.
Pre-registration required. Admission $25+ GST/person per session. All materials provided.


A note on Raft Tours:

Adults only: Dusk Raft, Wine & Cheese, and Astronomy Adventure
Friday, July 21 starting at 6:30 p.m.
Pre-registration required. Admission $75+GST/person.

It was an up and down summer for rafting in 2016; unfortunately, our season was cancelled.
We are still taking names of interested parties for next season.
To those already on our waiting list: you have been troopers with your patience.

Anyone holding a rafting certificate for the 2016 season, you can claim it for the 2017 season.

  All camps run 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, unless otherwise stated. For full descriptions or to register you can call 403-346-2010. This can also be done on the website.

 pre-session on Tuesday, July 18, 6:00 p.m. at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. This camp is a day camp, except for an overnight trip from July 27 to July 28.
